"Shoegaze" seems to be the word on everyones lips at the moment, it's ok to like Chapterhouse again! and everyone suddenly has a bit of a shoegaze sound about them, whatever that is?
Anyway, to celebrate the 'sound that celebrates itself' Drowned in Sound have dedicated a whole weeks worth of articles to Shoegaze bands, labels and music, and they kindly asked us for a little contribution.

2008 saw many things change in the world of Spotlight Kid. An album was made and scrapped. We regrouped, thought again and came up with the goods, the second time around. Last year saw members leave and return, old projects surface and then sink! But this, I believe, all happens for a reason...
Spotlight Kid has become something different. Ideas come from all directions, band members live in different cities, and so to with this has the music. Spotlight Kid has become a collective... a club. There is a core group of us, but we're always up for new ideas, the door is never closed... I look forward to playing some live shows and seeing which members turn up?
This February saw the first release of new Spotlight Kid recordings with a track that has been included on the new shoegaze compilation by the top lads at Club AC30.
' Never Lose That Feeling' Vol 3 was released on Feb 14th and includes a breezy psych version of Jesus and Mary Chains ' Sometimes Always' covered by Spotlight Kid, featuring Karl, Katty and Me.

Volume #3 of this compilation is somewhat late, but is well worth waiting for! Volume #1 was released September 2005 and featured among others Andrew Kenny (Amanset), Amusement Parks On Fire, Air Formation and Douglas Heart. Volume #2 followed in September 2006 with the likes of Hammock, Britta Phillips and Paula Kelley (Drop Nineteens).
Artists featured on Volume #3 include The Daysleepers, Heats Of Black Science, Spotlight Kid and Wry. There’s also Ulrich Schnauss performing Love Forever with original Chapterhouse members Andrew Sherriff and Stephen Patman, and Jatun close out the whole series with their excellent version of Swervedriver’s Never Lose That Feeling.

There is new music on it's way, I have posted a new demo track on the Myspace site. We have 14 tracks that are near completion, with a live line up which is sounding awesome.
